Academy’s Fall Musical—Get Involved!
With a new sound system and new lights, it will be a great year for the
performing arts in UA’s Besl Theater! This year’s fall musical is The
Drowsy Chaperone—a high-energy production and an escape from reality into a
whimsical plot and characters. Any student is invited to help make this
production UA’s best ever—no experience necessary.
Performance dates are November 11, 12, 13, and 14.
Cast
Auditions for this year’s musical will take place August 31 – September
3 after school (3:15 each day) in the Besl Theater. Here’s the
schedule:
- Tuesday, August 31—Learn a short dance combination to perform on your
audition day
- Wednesday, September 1—Juniors and Seniors audition
- Thursday, September 2—Freshmen and Sophomores audition
- Friday, September 3—Callbacks
Audition requirements
- Prepare an upbeat song of your choice (you’ll have one minute to
sing)
- Prepare a monologue if you’re interested in a principal role (you’ll have
one minute to perform)
- Learn the dance combination on August 31
Crew
The tech organization meeting is set for Tuesday, September 8 at
3:15 in the Besl Theater. Come meet the director and the stage manager and hear
about opportunities to:
- Build sets
- Find props
- Sew costumes
- Decorate the lobby
- Apply makeup and style hair
- Sell or take tickets
- Operate lights or sound
- Move sets during shows
